From A-Z, ‘a living library of the law’

The ‘Living Library of the Law’: a platform created by law students, for law students, because the best stories in law aren’t written – they’re lived.

As law students, we understand the difficulty that comes with picking possible career paths throughout our degree. With each area of law being so vastly different from the next, choosing a a particular pathway can be intimidating.

EncycLAWpedia aims to provide you with the appropriate resources to explore different career opportunities and help you with your journey. We research areas of law, and conduct interviews with a diverse range of professionals who have pursued law and discuss what their specific area of law entails, what their day-to-day lives look like, their experience in law school, career opportunities, and law school advice. Each generation of the EncycLAWpedia team hopes to provide an accessible, friendly avenue for upcoming students to begin their pathway of law, ask questions, and reach out!

Your Guide to Law

  • EncycLAWpedia is a Monash Law Ambassador initiative, established in 2019, that helps law students bridge the gap between study and legal practice. Our goal is to provide accessible, friendly resources to support students in exploring different areas of law and career pathways.

  • As law students ourselves, we understand how difficult and overwhelming it can be to choose a legal career path — especially when each area of law is so distinct. EncycLAWpedia was created to support students in making informed choices by offering insights from real legal professionals.

  • We research legal practice areas and conduct interviews with a wide range of professionals who have studied and now work in the law. These interviews explore:

    • What their area of law involves

    • What a typical day looks like

    • Their experience in law school

    • Career opportunities

    • Tips and advice for law students

    • Clerkship experiences

  • Absolutely! If there’s a specific legal area you’d like us to cover, or a particular question you'd like us to ask in an interview, we’d love to hear from you. Just fill out the inquiry form here —all suggestions and questions are welcome.
